May I remind everyone here that the football coaching genius that is rodfarts, stated that we finally had a real midfielder to replace the ineffective Mark Noble. That midfielders name - Alou Diarra!

Re: The team you all wanted.....
I agree that the players were to blame for a poor performance. For starters, we let them score from 3 set plays, when we knew that was their main threat! However the genius that is fordstar/rodfarts/fordfarts or whatever thinks that by playing Nolan instead of Noble as captain, we would have won! Sheer genius, why didn't we all think of that and realise that is all it would have taken! If only we all had rodfarts intellect and insight!

Fat Sham has been desperate for that line up to fail for weeks now, sat back today and probably lapped up the fact they had a bad day, he should be sacked for that fact alone. Stubborn, pigheaded cunt. Good in the long run though as it's a massive bolt in his coffin.

The managers job is to motivate, be tactically astute and be seen to fucking manage. The fat twat sat in his arse the entire first half the did fuck all to change things.

He should get out of our club now. I hate the cunt.

NCHammer - very much the way I've made sense of it as well. When I saw the team before the game I wrote a positive post on the match thread. But as soon as I hit the Post Message button a doubt appeared in my mind.

That very quickly clarified as pretty much the team that had taken City apart simply went through the motions today. In particular, the defence letting in three soft goals from set pieces, the aimless long-balling and the general listlessness ought to send a ringing message to the board - the players have had enough of this clown.

A lot of our players played poorly today but then again like the West Brom game we came up against a seemingly better organised and more up for it opponents. I suppose the manager has to take responsibility for that.

Dog - I think it might be time to move on from the start of the season now, that was a long time ago, how long can we live off of that for? Mind you, we are still talking about 85/86.

This is the here and the now and we are looking shit. How can you give someone a role as an 'impact sub' it's offensive and it doesn't make sense because each game is different, scorelines are different and how do you know he would play well coming off the bench anyway?

Re: The team you all wanted.....
Had someone try to tell me earlier that this was pretty much the same team that beat City and Liverpool so it's on the players and not the manager.

I say bollocks! The 11 players may have been the same, but much is different. Downing out on the wing rather than the tip of the diamond. Song as the deep midfielder rather than Noble. Valencia playing further and further out on the left wing, especially when we are out of possession. Jenkinson being forced to stay so deep today because we were petrified of Palace's pace on the left wing (that only changed once their guy was sent off). Not pressing high up the field like we were earlier in the season. Long ball from the back rather than building through Song, Noble and Kouyate.

My personal belief is that we were good earlier in the season because the new players hadn't been corrupted by Sam. The longer they're here, the worse they're playing.

His "coaching" is making us, and the players that we have, worse. Song, Downing, and many others are lacking confidence due to his "style". In the 1st half, I lost count the number of times Song came short to receive the ball from Tomkins, Reid or Adrian only for them to ignore him and pump it long instead. Eventually, he just stopped bothering! That's not good for us!!!!

For those that think he deserves credit for how we were playing earlier in the season, think of this.

Do you go on 3 months of evidence, when we were playing well, or the 3+ years apart from that where, for the most part, we've been terrible to watch, with an extremely negative approach to most games?!

Re: The team you all wanted.....
We were bereft of bright ideas when in possession in their half and it really showed up. Song and Downing were way below their earlier season play too.

Re: The team you all wanted.....
There were hardly any balls through the channels today for them to get onto. Sure they packed their defence which reduced us to what seemed like 45 minutes passing across their box, but even so, we should have worked out how to deal with that.

PPrivate dancer. I like carroll, but i prefer valencia and sakho as a partnership. I think carroll would be an excellent impact sub.

My problem with him is that when we start with him we're far too direct. I loved the first half of the season where we used the pace of v & s and quicker whipped crosses instead of longer balls and floated crosses that carroll prefers
